NY APA Chapter Obituary for Josh
The following notice was just circulated by the APA New York chapter, shared by Molly McQueen, who spoke to Don Burns, president of the chapter. Don also expressed his shock and deepest sympathies to Pamela and the other members of Josh’s family; Don had worked with Josh on many committees and was really fond of him.
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Joshua A. Moreinis on Friday, July 19, 2010.
A Columbia graduate (both undergraduate and graduate) and a Fulbright Scholar, Josh’s career as a planner spanned more than 20 years and included work in both the private and public sectors. He joined STV in 2007 as a senior planner in the Transportation & Infrastructure Division where his work included numerous transit and transportation projects as well as important community development initiatives.
His activities in the professional community were almost too numerous to list: not only was he very active in the New York APA NY Metro Chapter, but he was active in planning in his home village of Croton-on-Hudson, and the Tappan Zee Bridge Replacement Land Use task force. Many of his friends and colleagues recall Josh’s passion for planning and his deep belief that the work of a planner is to make the world better. In addition to his professional achievements, Josh was also an accomplished artist; you can see is art at: www.joshpaintings.com.
Josh’s family has planned a memorial service for Sunday, July 25th at 2 PM, at Temple Israel in Croton, New York (www.tinw.org).
Our thoughts are with Josh’s wife Pamela Ivinski and the rest of his family.
